Thanks @wolf, I've done a dry start exactly according to Tom Barr's method. This is what he recommended as far as water changes. Think I will rather do some extra changes anyway

First week has gone well, done 3 50% changes since planting. Lights have gone from 3 hours and are now at a full 8 hours.

Dry starts seem to be the way to go, nothing has floated up at all. Water changes have been a minimum. Algae doesn't seem to be a problem... Touch wood

Put my guppies in to get the cycling going. I've already put 3 ADA Bacter Balls in. Monitoring all the levels very closely.

Can't wait to see this tank fully grown! :hello2:

And wow! Your water level is really high! Personal preference or is it more better that way?

    Hi all,

Been a bit scarce. Had time on my hands then a server crash and many sleepless nights later, we are finally back on track.

The tank is starting to take some good shape, struggling with some string algae at the moment but will get on top of it now that i can give it some proper attention.

Will post some more pics on the weekend.

I have ordered an LED system from Steve's LEDs in the US.

    http://shop.stevesleds.com/SPS-Grade-LED-Retrofit-Kit-Package-24-34-tanks-SPS-Retrofit-Kit-24-34.htm

Got a free Typhon controller as they are running a special now. Bought some longer heatsinks (3x 30"), extra fans and one or two other bits and pieces. I want a 30" unit with 3 rows of LEDs hence the changes.
