Well ... the tank has been running now for a week ... it looks really great. the only inhabitants besides the plants, wood and bacteria are 4 Preacox Rainbows (courtesy of d3tained). They are looking great, showing full color and love swimming round and round and round and round ... i think you get the idea. Going to leave it another week, then I am going to be introducing my banjo cat, whiptail cat, ancistrus and oto ... I'm then going to leave it for another 2 - 3 2 weeks before I introduce any of my other fish.
Just had a look at the pics i have and they are atrocious ... i'll try take some better ones tonight and post later tonight.
Well its now been just over a week and all is still seems to be well in the tank. the plants are giving off new shoots, the Preacox Rainbows look very happy and the water params seem to be ok. N03: 10 NO2: 1 GH: >10 KH: 3 pH: 6.5 my only concern is for a white fluffy like substance growing on the one piece of drift wood ... the second one from the left ... any ideas what this is?
Hi Banjo. All I can say is wow. It looks very good. Well done. Your golden apple should get rid ofthe fungus no problem.
I posted this in the wrong topic last night!! An update for all of you .... Hey All A long time has passed since I last posted on this topic. I thought you may all like an update. Well its been 3 months since I redid my tank. well everything seems to be going very well ... deaths in the tank have been 0 ...cause I removed the one fish that did look not so good to the hospital tank... there he/she promptly died ... RIP Praecox Rainbow. So anyway back to the task at hand ... I decided tonight I was going to find my Blue Spotted Ancistrus which I put in the tank on the 25/11/2006 and haven't seen since. Well, I have good news to report ... I found the guy, he looks healthy and well feed  :maca and keeping to himself . Due to all the chaos of trying to find this guy I took all the wood out of the tank ... so now I have decided to rescape the tank at 22:15 on a thursday evening. I'll take some pics and post them tomorrow. Stocking of my 300L tank ... (I know some of you are going to critercize me on my levels) here goes anyway... 2 Angels (1 Koi, 1 Golden Pearl - I think) 21 Wild caught Cardinals EDIT: Tried to count them now ... they swim to dam quickly for my eyes and the camera 3 Wild caught Head and Tail lights (came for free with the cardinals) EDIT: 2 seem to have disappeared ... they were very small ... my guess is that they became another fish's appetizer 1 Pair wild caught Rams 2 Corydoras melini 2 Banjo Catfish (1 Bicolor and 1 for the life of me i cant remember the name) 2 Ancistrus (1 gewone een and 1 Blue Spotted) 5 Horse faced loaches EDIT: I can only count 4 at the moment ... I dont know if 1 is in the substrate or dead 3 Oto's EDIT: Only can count 2 at the moment Had 2 loaches in but they have been moved to the guppy/hospital tank (they were being a nuisance to all the other fish) 1 Red Rainbow shark Plants I am not 100% sure of what plants I have in my tank ... waiting to try and convince an expert to come and have a look and let me know ... but the few I do know Valisneria Twisted Valisneria Tenelus Pygmy swords Java ferns Long Italian anubias Well I am now going back to my tank to complete the rescape and water change ... time stamp ... 22:30 EDIT: Time stamp 23:40 Well taking into account the new numbers on the stocking side ... it looks like I have lost 4 fish that I don't know what has happend to ... they have now officially been declared MIA. As soon as I can figure out how to get this darn camera to take some decent photographs ... I will post for all to see.
Been away on holiday. Got back on sunday and found my tank ridden with BBA ... so now its treat and repair time. my wife has got the digital camera so i'll take some pics later and post them on.
