    Hello Jimmies!

Has anyone here ever used the Tamiya brand acrylic paints for anything in their aquarium?
Or at least know if it'll be safe?

    Thanks!

Isnt Tamiya for model making. Not sure if it is aquarium safe though.

I've used it on model kits before. It's acrylic base, which is a good thing. But I don't know if it's safe either. (And I don't want to test it on a bunch of unsuspecting fishies!)

Nice. Will it affect the pH and such?

Hanneka my other hobby is building scale moels and I would not use the Tamiya avrylics in a tank. Some of my bottles is well over 5 years old and just as fresh as the day I bought it.That in my mind at least indicates some kind of chemicals that I would rather not put in a tank unless you seal it in with something.

Mmmm I thought the tank was for the missus???LOL

Tamiya is "acrylic" but is laced with other stuff aswell. I used it once to airbrush something for my tank and it wiped out everything. Lesson learnt.

Good to know @Shaun and @Ryan Baxter . I have some left over from my last build, but I'll keep for the day I can afford the Millenium Falcon.

Luckily, I have the best mom in the world. Now that we know which paint to look for, she can pinpoint exactly where to buy buy it. Cheapest price and greatest availability. ^_^
