With all the hard work and calculations this one is well deserved. But I know this is still far from done. Would like to see a tank on that stand still.

    Thanks a lot guys.[IMG]

Didn't think I could win this, as I personally don't think its such a big achievement. I have a few shelves like that - for lighter loads - in the house. Privately, I had more faith in Ivan. ;D

Originally this tank was destined for the lounge. But the XYL insisted that it should go to the dining room as it took up too much space in the lounge. B I I I G problem, because the floor of the dining room (wood parquet) had a lot of water damage because of the recent floods and was seriously warped. So this was in fact the only way I could proceed.

Anyway, one person who came to see the tank said that it could possibly be the only tank in the world installed in this manner.
I thought about that, and maybe - just maybe - the suggestion has merit. Think about it.

PS: The tank has been on the shelf for a few month mainly to try the bog filter and the water return system. The tank is fully filled, has some plants in pots an two synodontis frolicking around.
Only things outstanding are the lights (LEDs, and they're nearly finished), and some finishing touches.

No Cor, this is a well deserved win. The entire build from beginning to end has been thoroughly planned and very well executed. Especially like your bog filter as well. I also battled between yours and Ivan's, but yours is damn good. (Sorry Ivan)

Congrats Cor. It truely is a great build. Just one question - what does the XYL stand for? First I thought it was DNA but then I realized a woman would be XX so it has me a bit stumped

    Thanks Pierre

"XYL" is a Radio Ham term (my call sign used to be "ZS2CG").
"YL" stands for: "Young Lady"(=girlfriend). Conversely, "XYL" means "EX Young Lady"(=wife).

Display it in your tank unless it's a floating trophy? :laughing7:

When will you get this setup running?

At the moment I'm sukkeling with the LEDs. Everything is working OK. The heat conductive glue doesn't hold. LEDs are comimg undone all the time. Next I tried a thin coat of marine sealer, but the LED get's too hot, so now I've decided to BOLT them onto the heatsink. It seems to be popular. Seen a lot LEDs bolted-on on the internet.
