I'm very curious about that one.
Are these 'avalible' shrimps imported?..'legally' under a salt water permit?
No offence, maybe a new law that I'm not aware of just came up.
    Correct me if I'm wrong.

I have an idea about the how, it was in one of my question.
The where is definitely not local.

Sad to say, I rather stop breeding them, it's way too costly and hard work.
Can't compete with unscrupulous dealers and importers.

They are putting the future of the local shrimp hobby at risk for quick profit.
The importation is currently illegal, once these guys attract the attention of the authorities the local shrimp keeping might become illegal too.

This past year I saw several price lists from SA importers with fresh water shrimps on them.
This is Africa, where money can buy the law.

This hobby is about passion not about money.
Funny enough, we are still buying from them because they have what we want.

    Wow, where this is going?
I'm putting my 'avalible' amanos on special while stocks last: a million amanos for a million rand, only R1 each.
    Anyone interested?

Was advertised on a WhatsApp group yesterday, probably all sold within the first few hours. But more will come in, as it has before. Nothing new here.

The same happens in Asia when a fresh shipment of South African rhino horns hits the shore 'legally under permit'...
It's all about greed and money.

Agreed @Paul, nothing special about them.
I do have some pretty ones with back stripe and nice blue coloration but nothing exciting.

I've been contacted by the person who supply them and he confirmed to me that these shrimps were legally imported.
So I have to apologise to him as he is totally legit.

This is great news, meaning the fresh water shrimps are now legal to import in the country.
Why nobody told us about this change in the law.
I can't wait to receive my shipment of Galaxy Blue Boas...

Anybody seen them yet, seem perhaps another type or strain from what I'm used to and already berried at 15mm I'm told ..
Let me know your thoughts -

It's hard to tell from this photo.
There are a few species looking very similar (described here: https://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/features/articles/amano-shrimp-spineless-heroes).
There's one thing I can say for sure by experience, I haven't seen a 15mm Caridina Multidentata berried yet.
The eggs when present in the saddle are always visible, I currently have a 30mm female born at home, her saddle is visible but she didn't get berried yet. She is with other males adults and young ones, all my adults females (50mm) are berried most of the time.
    Sometimes nature can surprise.
I even saw a guy pretending his amanos are interbreeding with his neos.

The "amanos" at N1 are different to the ones I'm getting. For some reason those seem more like a ghost of sort.

    Here's mine before shipping: IMG-20180216-WA0023.jpg IMG-20180216-WA0024.jpg

As the shrimp evidently all arrived at the same time are they not all the same 'amanos'..
@Hendre, is your first pic from N1 ?

If berried at 15mm, that's surely a ghost not an Amano ?

    We still need better photos.
I can't see any doted side lines on these pics.
My 15mm amanos have already the same patterns than the adults but they are more slender than the ones on these photos.

Nope. The ones in these pics are 25mm by Ruan, they have much smaller eggs and are larger than the N1 shrimp

    Here's some N1 shrimp: IMG-20180216-WA0008.jpg IMG-20180216-WA0007.jpg
