A fishkeeper in your area who I know used to tell me that "they" would just go collect some sand/gravel from the local river and it worked very well. I don't know how scared of crocodiles you are...

When I was 16 year old I use to swim with the croc's on my Bodyboard. Today I won't do it  When you are young you got no fear.

I will have a look and what I can find ,will keep you updated... :)

how big is the tank?looks like a 2ft.. id say atleast another 14w.. this light may be fine for the java fern but i dont think its enough for the other plants..esp that red one.. maybe thats why it melted?

Thanks Shihr I will add one .

The tank is about 60lt. The plants that melted was all the non-aquatic plants . I think it happend because the water flow did not do so well @ the back of the tank . The red plant did very well emerged . I started with 6 clippings and now i have about 20 stems .

The curent filter that I've installed is the RS Electrical RS-3000 Waterfall filter . Cost me about R150 and it pumps 1200lt/h.

Would like to keep this tank low tech. Curently I'm adding no fertz and doing weekly 20% water changes. My Sub consists of Peat Moss , garden gravel , hidroponics , nails and filter sand to keep that all down . This layer is about 1.5 cm .

Would like to add some HC @ some stage . Will see how it go's .
