I recently got some subs from another member listed ADA/Fluorite Black mix.
I noticed when I was at the members place that the setups he ran with this mix all had green water and was exceptionally dirty water that was left in the tanks. So I was wondering what will the best way be to treating this situation, also he claimed to have the subs for a year, will this still be good to use or did I waste my money?

Should be fine to use... Remember that the Flourite and ADA will absorb some of the nutrients in the water. What I would recommend you do is let the substrate dry out completely before using it.

didnt waste your money. its still good to use. maybe give it a light rinse before adding to the tank. just lightly though else you turn it to mud.

I was thinking the same, thought I will let it dry and then maybe sif it so that only the "granular" ADA parts stay behind and the dust/sand part use in immersed setups?
