    Morning Boys and Girls, :hello2:

    Thought I would get a new journal going so long..... my old tank ( Apoc’s 2011 / 2012 Contribution ) is in the process of being decommissioned..... fortunately I have managed to replace it with a new 5ft tank ( standard dimensions: 1500 x 450 x 480 ):

    [IMG]

    I would have loved to make the transition from Flourite to Aqua Soil, but its not feasible at this stage. So substrate will be fluorite again... still deciding if there is anything else I could like underneath the fluorite..... I have a little osmocote thanks to HC, but other than that im not sure ? Any suggestions ? Should I do some PFP again ( although the ocmocote should be sufficient ? ) :scratch:

    Ferts will be EI and Trelmix " business as usual ".....

    Lighting will likewise be moved across from my old tank to the new one ( All T5: 4 x 54W & 3 x 24W )

    To celebrate I bought myself a little present / upgraded my C02 from a 2kg to a 5kg 
    Still have the 2kg so when C02 runs out I can just swop them out straight away ( thank goodness ! ):

    [IMG]

    This weekend is hectic, so I will only be shutting down the old tank completely during the course of next week, and then start the arduous process of moving livestock and subs and light and filter and and and.... Will keep you guys updated ! :icon_thumright:

    Im hopeful about the new scape, so lets see if i can make something of it "“ will still miss the big jungle tank though !

    Ciao !

    My cube is with pottingsoil vermiculite and canadian peat. Works way better than PFP for me also

    It is a lovely tank ( albeit smaller than my old one )..... glass is 6mm which makes me a little nervous... but its heavily braced top and bottom.... bought it at Exotic in Boksburg and they assure me its fine.....

    sorry not gona hijack. got greenwater because of overdosing ferts by mistake. been using this pottingsoil methode for 3years now. also not staining the water. will never use anything that has to be capped again due to making a big mess when removing a plant. water was crystal clear on friday. got murky because i did a huge trim. took pics directly after the trim. following this thread with intrest.

    @Apoc, your tank should be fine, even thou it is 6mm glass....that is standard for a 5 foot, when heavily braced.

    @Ryno, that's why you get green water, from to much organics from the pottingsoil, but not from overdosing ferts.

    Congrats on your new tank dude, dont forget to order that UP diffuser.

    I wouldn't worry at all about the glass thickness as the tank is not high at all.6mm is the standard glass thinkness for tanks 480 mm high.

    Hey dude congratz :icon_thumright:
    As for something to boost the subs, hmmm I wouldn't do it, rather focus on your EI, cut out the cheap Dischem ferts and maybe go with something like ACE Chem fertz, give me a shout if you do decide to go with ACE Chem fertz, after discovering their adress they actually are a block away from my workplace so wouldn't mind collecting some from you, bit pricey but well worth it. :thumb:

    Ok, as expected this time of year is just ridiculous ! Been so busy :sleepy4:, BUT;

    We going away on Saturday, so last weekend I had to seriously pull finger and get this tank going !! :icon_pale:

    First task was to remove the fish and start to drain the mammoth:

    [IMG]

    Salvageable plants were put in a 2 ft temporarily ( all my plants have taken a bit of a knock this last week or two with no C02 etc ):

    [IMG]

    Then EVENTUALLY the new tank went into place. I BRIEFLY rinsed about 80% of my fluorite and in it went ( only fluorite "“ no other additives ):

    [IMG]

    Fish were set up in my 3ft for the duration of the weekend and Monday:

    [IMG]

    Then I trimmed my plants and stuck em in the new tank. No particular scape owing to the fact that we going away on Saturday ( for now I just want to try get whatever plants I have in ):

    [IMG]

    So that was the weekend escapades.... During the evenings im trying to get my lights across to the new canopy.... Flip.. what a nightmare:

    [IMG]

    Fortunately ive gotten to a stage where they working... I just need to tap and tac / neaten up the wiring !

    So that’s it for now guys... don’t think you’ll hear from me again until the new year.... stay safe and have a good festive season !

    Morning Guys n girls :happy7:

    Just a small update; the tank been running for around two months now... still no " scape " per se... just letting the plants and the tank settle before I start messing around with things.

    I suppose its not much when compared to all the amazing scapes going up on APSA these days ! But nonetheless here are some pics for you ( for once I took out the camera, rather than just using my phone ! );
