    Hi Guys

I've just noticed I was supposed to come and introduce myself. So here goes.

My name is Sheldon and I am 30. I live in Rooihuiskraal, Centurion and work as A GIS Analyst for a consulting engineering company in Sunninghill, JHB North.

I have been keeping fish for 4 years now. I have always had live plants in my tanks (plastic plants are just that - plastic!). I have also always wanted a proper planted tank, but time and money have not been on my side. I am also a cyclist so that takes most of my free time.

At the moment I have three tanks running. My first tank was a 60 l Hex the occupants being a breeding pair of angels and some black widow tetras. The hex sprung a leak November 2005, so I quickly set up a spare tank I had just aquired - a regular 2 footer. The fish have been living in this since then. There are also 3 Anubias Nana in it. In the interim I have removed all the silicon from the hex and rebuilt it! I filled the hex about three weeks ago. I have a river sand and pebble substrate and have now planted with hygrophilia polysperma and some lilaeopsis (I think brasiliensis). There is a lot of algae in this tank at the moment, but the hygro is growing very well and the lilaeopsis has also started growing. I now want to build a nice wooden hood for the hex and will then move the fish across. I don't want to move the fish across before I have a lid since I have noticed that there is a lot of dust and plenty moths falling into the open tank. The third tank is on my desk at the office. It is also a 60 l, 2 footer. It also has a riversand and pebble substrate with three nice rocks, some Java moss, Java fern and Vallisneria spiralis, and 5 swordtails.

    That's all from my side...

    Sheldon

    Welcome Sheldon

Man, I've been looking for Vallisneria spiralis for quite some time - please tell us where you got it. I'd love to get my hands on a nice big bunch! Thanks in advance and welcome to APSA once again.

    Thanks for the welcoming...

I will definitely post some pics of my different tanks. There are two photos of the hex on the forum already. In "The Greenhouse" under "Plant Problems" the topic is "GDA Outbreak?!" Hopefully I can sort the GDA out and get some nice pics of the tank on the forum. I still need to take some photos of the office tank, as soon as I have I will post them. The third tank was never set up to be a show tank, so I don't think it needs to be posted...

    Later,
    Sheldon
