I've been through all kinds of shit with this tank, hardware failing, BBA taking over, thread algae taking over the BBA and back, Mass shrimp deaths, carpets going bust and and and and....

But it has and still is one of the most rewarding things in my life!
I've learnt so much and enjoyed even more!
I can just sit in front of this tank and stare for hours! The Beauty and the details and the life keeps me inspired and motivated!
    I love it!

Best investment I made in a long time!

That's what its all about, learning learning and more learning. I like how you have syphoned out the HC. I did the same with some substrate but almost did not have the guts to do it. Syphoning out something isn't actually that bad when wanting to rescape.

I'm inspired to rescape one of my tanks but I'm worried about the livestock. Catching, storing and making sure the change does not kill any. They are my favourite. That's why i asked about your pygmy's. So they hardy buggers? Would love to keep some.

yeah, they are tough bliksems! they come out in their masses when I feed them, but the best is when you stop the filters, they love that!
10 minutes after I stop the filters they come out and school up and down the from glass, amazing sight!!!

    So you asked for it...

    Desperate need of some tlc.
Ripped out all the Blyxa the weekend and replanted some of it back.
Still need to climb into the carpet and get it back under control and then too trim the Tonkinensis...

After I pulled out the Blyxa :

After I replanted some of the Blyxa and siphoned out most of the pest like riccia :

As I mentioned, still need to climb into the carpet and give it a good trim, but I also need to replace the tubes in the light unit asap as they are older than 18 months and the intensity is gone, so don't really want to trim the carpet "Moer toe" and then not have enough light to bring it back to life...

So hopefully lamphouse will have stock by the end of the month...

There you have it folks, crazy "bos befok" look at one stage, I've given up trying to combat the riccia and the Christmas Moss, I now just remove it as best I can, will prolly never get rid of it, but let nature run its course!!!

Had some BBA issues but that seems to be better now, as for the plants and fish they are all very healthy...

Ripped out the rock, pointless trying to remove the moss from it...

And then the majority of the other plants...
Added some more Aquasoil and replant education some parva and cleaned it up a bit...
