Okay so for the sake of the 2 gouramis took them out put them back in my 3ft gonna whack a shit load of Epsom salt in to overcome the ada soil...
Stay away from ferts and heavy metals also. Mulberry leaves can be used instead of Indian almond leaves but they need to be dried then boiled .....
Are you adding anything like plant ferts as some contain heavy metals like copper that kill inverts

Also remove activated carbon and add copper sulphate... But small doses big ones will kill plants and invertebrate
