Hi Clare here. I have had to sign up with another account because I've not heard anything about my account being recovered, due to my own stupidity and lack of experience with code generators. I should have known better but hey we all learnt a brutal lesson and not make the same mistake. So here I am with another account to ask @shihr and @wearsbunnyslippers to find out what is going on? Is anyone trying to do something or what? I passed a message to @f-fish+plants to pass to WBS and I've heard nothing after he left a message for me. I even went to the FB page and it took like forever to get the message through to someone and I did not even know who I was talking to through Messenger. Please, guys, please I need my account back. I have a new tank and I am currently in the UK so I want to start posting stuff again. Thanks.
Hi clare sadly the forum is not what it used to be. most of the old faces has finished not much going on anymore.
Oh and even UKAPS is dead too. Not one greeting from the members there after posting my introduction and my tank thread there. And they participate in other threads. How rude.
Hi Clare, I looked in to APSA by chance today, after having not been here for weeks and saw your post and thought I would reply. Forums have reached their sell-by date worldwide.... Facebook stepped in and that took a lot out of forums, but in my opinion what killed forums was the fact that some members remained anonymous behind funny names and slandered others that did reveal their identity, like I did. I was therefore free game for persons hiding away somewhere. As a result, I am also not prepared to share my experience any longer with persons that I do not know and that want to attack me. I want to enjoy my hobby with friends without the fear of being hammered by someone bowling a curved ball. So now I am on a few whatsapp groups with friends where I do not have to watch my wickets all the time. Sad, but human nature has basically killed forums. Kind regards, Dirk
Good points Dirk. On another forum that I'm staff on we actually used a social media campaign and strict tightening of the rules to avoid these issues. Now stuff is flowing much better
Hi Hendre, On TASA it was the mods who slandered me, they were not adhering to their own rules. For that reason, they won't see me back. Kind regards, Dirk
Yes that's a different story. On an international forum with a proper structure and more than only two active members it's rolling much better
Wow Dirk, actually I'm not surprised that a lot of forums have taken a big knock. I would have at least expected this one to actually stay active but still the lack of administration means no one is paying attention to everything here. Why keep it floating when they can just shut it down? It costs money to keep a forum running so I would do the most logical and sensible thing and just shut it down for good. Yeah I get what you mean on being slandered. It's not cool IMHO. I think I'm done with this forum now after being so patience. The owner really needs to shut this down because it's actually going nowhere. I'll see you on TASA if you're around there, at least I'm welcome there and more activity going on as well. UKAPS is actually quite rude - only three people have liked and one person has only responded so yeah I think people are just strange and I don't know, for the lack of a better wording to describe their behaviour.
You'll notice on any forum that many people read but only a few interact with the actual content. I have pages with several thousand views and almost no response.
Of the various aquatic forums I am a member, TASA is about the only one that is still reasonably active. Facebook groups are quite active, but to a large extent Whatsapp groups seem to have taken over online forums.
There are too many watsapp groups these days. The knowledge is too scattered. Same with the Facebook groups, very hard to search old posts. Most Google searches take u back to the good old forums, where information is stored in a structured manner. Sent from my ANE-LX2 using Tapatalk
Many forums which I used to browse are all about dead these days. I really don't understand why. I get that facebook groups could get good activity and whatsapp groups instant responses etc. While that is good for quick sales and maybe a fast response to some problem I cant see the benefit in the long run. Its easy to browse old forum topics and learn tons of stuff. Doubt its could be as easy on facebook, must be about impossible on a whatsapp group. Plus how do you even get on to these whatsapp groups, unless its a group of friends. Anyway thats my rant for today.
This is why I am a staff member on MFK, it's still very busy and traffic is mounting. Probably one of the best forums still standing.
