What a different world, got a little bit of sun that hits the tank in the afternoon. Typically not around to see it - pity the season is over.

Contemplating putting a growlight over this tank ... maybe for winter and say 4 hours a day with the current LED tubes.

Thanks .. yeah just lost a hour staring into the tank watching the sun move around. This must be better than spending time with a psychiatrists no matter how cool the couch is.

Anybody have experience with this internal filter or stuff that I need to keep an eye open for?

    Thanks Ferdie

Shot ... think the lace is because of the added flow form the moray internal.

    Went from this [IMG]

    to this on the weekend

some of the plants are form the outside tanks - so a rescue before winter hits, others from the pico tanks (also outside ) project

Grabbed what could be he last of the 10Watt-x (R56) LED tempest fixtures from the hillfox china mall - with the old and the new running on the tank I hope that keeps the mixed ground cover low.

Any aerobic pockets build up on a scape like that? With the high substrate

    What substrate is that?

Short answer yes - can happen even did on 3 cm of substrate. So when I flushed the tank ... some of the substrate was not disturbed, you can actually see the layer bottom left - more compact etc.

The the stuff pushed into the corner is packed into the left front with the rocks forming a hard center barrier. You will recall from the TASA postings that I did the filter sponge double-up.

this is jammed into the left back corner

leaving me with some space for the heater north-west since that filter reaches all the way to the bottom of the tank. The south side of that filter is actually a substrate edge for the mount. So with even the slightest amount of flow happening clock-wise on the left side of the tank I think I am better off with this mount and the possibility of aerobic pockets not forming than how it was configured before.

If you look at the pre-plant pics

the thinnest depth is probably 2cm the rest of the old +- 3cm is now moved to the corner.

If memory serves this is leca (from the hydroponic store) with a bit of ADA powder in the mix.

On TASA a new member asked about the algae scraper ... I went the normal credit card / utility blade route ... but but but - I give you the epicscraper ...

just one slice and both your algae and fingers are gone ..

Cross scrape a gentle push .. unlike my other attempts with cards etc going down.

    Use are your own risk.

Love the idea I'm also going to do that... the scraper on this model isn't sharp enough for that stubborn algae
