This is genius. I saw another system. Called Python or something. Way too many valves and wasted water. Thanks for this
@shihr I did this and it's awesome. You rock dude. This was soooo flipping easy Quick question: What's the "screen" thing called and where do I get it? Is it a normal LFS thing or a Builders thing?
Aish, I've always added prime for half of the volume of my tank, because I'm doing a 50% water change. I have a 100l tank and I add prime measured out for 50l (1.25ml). Whats the effects of this? What problems could it lead to? My method of water changes are similar to shihr.
if your fish are fine, chances are its ok. this is just what is stated on the prime bottle if im not mistaken
If that's the name for the plastic thingy on the "fish tank" end of your hose pipe, to stop sucking up fishies, then yes, that
Anyone using this system on 2 tanks at the same time? I'm about to get fully "MTSed" and there'll be at least 2 large tanks in close proximity to do WCs on. I'm thinking: 1. Short hose from garden. 2. Into splitter. 3. Two hoses, one into each tank. 4. Both have the filter guard on them. 5. Proceed as usual. That is... 1. Prime the siphon. 2. Place the suction cups at the desired levels. 3. Remove hose from tap so siphon begins. 4. When done, reconnect and start filling. The trick is probably if the one tanks fills faster than the other. So I'd maybe need a valve on the splitter to shut that one off while the remaining tank finishes. Thoughts? @shihr @Deadpool
You can... Best to ensure the right amount it added to the tank is to use ball-valves on both ends... Just a few concerns...how you going to treat the water? Or you going to tank dose after WC...and also, just be careful of hoses from outside as the sun can cause the first couple of liters inside the hose to be scolding hot...
Thanks Jacques I'd probably do what I'm doing now: Prime for the full volume of the tank before I run the new water in. (But after siphoning out the poopy water ) I also keep my hose in the shade so it's never too hot. (Can't say the same for the water in the pipes though! Sometimes it's crazy hot )
