Everyone noticed how quiet APSA is lately?
A part of APSA have died with Wikus...IMO!
I miss all the fun and humourous personality of our late friend Wikus.
Even the Troll and other elves are quiet... or have everyone moved to other forums?
    Gert.

I feel it as well he was a good guy! But, then again I haven't loged on for maybe two days max and there's about 15 unread posts, not to bad..

Dunno... maybe some new marketing ideas need to come forward like photo of the month competition, inspirational systems posts etc.

I come on the site every now and again but there is nothing to really post on. I know there was an attempt to get a FW meeting together, maybe an outing. All good ideas to action maybe in the future.

I stopped posting because of all the bitching, cattiness and backbiting.

I think a lot of people are too scared to post eg. their setups, since they have to defend every last detail of what they did up to a stage where it is becoming ridiculous...

    good point Richard
stone the trolls and all will be well again in the land of underwater gardens...
one has a fear of posting if you know that as soon as certain people log on its going to be ripped to shreds because it doesnt conform with their way of doing things, of if they simply just dont like you and then go on a head hunting spree trying to break down your caracter...

I find it quite stange that in the last 2 or 3 weeks there's been none of the bitching etc. but the forum seems to be more quiet now.
Strange that when there's a fight going everybody is logged in and adding their 2c, but now when all is calm everybody just lurks...
    Weird dont ya think?

Spot-on HellRaiser & Hotdog83. I think most users on here feel a bit nervous when posting about their own setups or want to ask questions as they feel it might be stupid questions. Well I'm still fairly new to the hobby and if I have a question, I'll ask it. This forum exists to aid everyone from the bottom up and I don't think that the real experts/gurus must look down on the average novice

    Just my 5c ...

    Hey GDJ,

Also noticed your point... This forum seems to be mostly based in CT, so unfortunately, I post most of my Gauteng related threads on another forum. Maybe we should introduce a few controversial topics. Like, "has anyone spotted anything illegal lately, at what price and where" ;) Or just like a tank of the month, photo of the month, like Muz said, but then not allow any comments on the tanks and implement a voting system, which could encourage more people to post.

    Solex69,

I can't agree more. Like for instance the one thread where a photo of a very healthy angel was shown, and immediately was shot down for not being to some people's taste in angel strains. This makes people scared to show their pride and joy here! A lot of us (if not most of us) take a lot of time caring for their fish and ensuring they are healthy and well looked after! And I don't mean there shouldn't be advice given out ensuring the health of everyone's fish, aesthetics just shouldn't be part of this advice!

That angel post was actually mine. It was very quickly critized by the experts whilst I just wanted to share the quality of the pic that I took. I raised that little bugger from a very small size and was quite proud to see how he's grown with me.

    Ai tog...
I understand that some people have been banned and others were given stern warnings, so it seems like there's been some behind the scenes stuff going on.

Lets stop delving into the past (where BTW you cant change a thing) and look towards the future (where we can actually make a difference). I am positive we've all been treated unfairly before and it will happen again.

Instead of complaining about the lack of posts, post away all of you.
Look we had the "lets talk substrate" thread and that went on for 8 pages or so without any negative comments.

So who knows what can happen next ;-)

    Hi guys

Your concerns have been noted, and I do agree with some of it.

However, as GDJ mentioned, we have not had any of these issues in the last few weeks. Please feel free to post any (legal) interesting and relevant threads.

Regarding the Angel thread... I think that if you read the 2 threads again you will find that a lot of valuable information was shared, and it was stated that the colour form of the angel was a personal opinion and not a judgement on the aquarist at all.

I like the idea of a photo competition. We tried to start one a while back but the interest was pretty limited. Lets see if we can organize something again.

Regarding the photo competition: best suited to - www.aquatic-photography.com.
I still strongly feel that the true essense of this forum has gotten lost - Aquatic PLANTS SA. (for once I agree with Henk)

If you're going to call it a "photographic" contest, then one has to rate the actual photographs and not the subjects. Why not do a "rate my tank" thread instead, with voting abilities, no comments allowed. That could be interesting. YOu could even have a monthly contest based on votes, and the winner's tank gets to appear on the APSA homepage. (which only seems accessible if you're logged out).

Also (whilst I'm on a roll and actually posting ;)), I think the mods should delete any post referring to anything illegal, banned, etc. including, but not limited to, requesting a blacklist. With the way things are headed, let's let sleeping dogs lie.

    cheers!
