Hi everyone, So I run my own 3D printing company and I was curious if anyone has used a 3d printed object in their tanks for an extended time?

I want to know if there would be any dangerous leaks off the plastic that would be harmful for an aquarium?

    Thanks!

What plastic are you using? If it is PTFE that is food grade it will be fine. Otherwise I wouldn't risk it.

I suppose if it is virgin ABS filament you should be ok, but be careful if you are using recycled ABS- these could have toxins that get included via the recycling process.

What is the max size you guys print?

Thanks, I'm definitely going to print some stuff to use in my tank.

I can do a 20 cm cube so whatever you can fit within that, the max length diagonally is about 28 cm.

So I've started 3D printing objects to use in my RCS tank, I thought I'd use this thread to show what Ive been printing and how it works in my aquarium for those that are interested.

The first thing I printed was a feeding dish for my shrimps that suction cups onto the side of a tank. IMG-20170322-WA0003.jpg IMG-20170322-WA0002.jpg IMG-20170322-WA0004.jpg IMG-20170322-WA0001.jpg

Can you 3D print me some shrimp :) ha ha ha

Nice job on the feeding dish. Is it warped out of shape or is that just the pic?
