Hi guys I require your assistance and expert opinions about a DIY LED build I want to know how you determine what type of leds you are gone use, how to arrange them and how you calculate how much you need Im planning on using 10w leds and driving them with a arduino and meanwell LDD drivers It will be for n cube tank of 70x70x40 Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
In my experience you need at least 62 W/m2. I am running 4x 7W COB LED bars over my tank at about half-power (due to over heating issues) and manage to deliver at least 100 PPFD into the water column (through a dirty cover glass). My plants are pearling nicely. If I can solve the overheating issues with some PC fans I should manage 124 W/m2 and at least 200 PPFD with my 4x 7W COB LEDs. My LEDs are neutral white and the tank looks a little dull. I would use cool white in future. The LEDs don't render pink, violet and purple well so you might need to supplement with some violet LEDs for good color rendering. Good luck!
Oh no not again, just do the research on this very forum, there are countless posts and threads about LEDS and what is available locally and what other folk are doing ! Ps.. an introduction and your location is always welcome before firing away
Or just go to lamphouse they now build custom LED light systems to your specification and not overly expensive.
