Hi. Please help ID this aponogeton. Purchased it during March 2016. Been dormant since then upto about 2 weeks ago. Leaves very fragile.
Howzit Mo, did you get it from Sed? I bought one from him as well, which looks very similar to that, but a duller green leaf. Mine grew really nicely when I first planted it, then went dormant for about two months when I relocated my tank. Is it possible to ID from the flowers? Mine flowered often at first..
Looks like Aponogeton ulvaceus to me. However, those are young leaves. Do those leaves get bigger with waving edges? If they do it is definitely A ulvaceus. Beautiful plant, you are lucky to have it. Bulb needs to be look after carefully and if there are old rotten bits around its bulb they will tend to cause the whole bulb to go rotten. So take it out of the substrate ever so often, take away the dead parts and replant. Regards, Dirk
Hi. Yes I got mine from him as well. Can you please post a pic of a fully grown leaf, if you have one. Currently the leaf edges are not waving so much. Maybe we can cross pollinate Thanks for the advice.
Thank you for the advice Prof Dirk. Would this be applicable to all popular members of the Aponogeton family such as Aponogeton crispus and could you possibly advise on "ever so often" - being annually during the hibernation cycle? Thank you.
