Some rock formation cell pics taken over the week end in the Southern Cape, which I thought might help and inspire our iwagumi and rock scaping efforts...

Nice Trevor. If only we could find small rocks with all that detail. I've found that tank sized rock from those type of formations tends to be a bit too rounded and smooth and lack detail.

lol and that's why you have the longest standing jungle tank :)

I have found really decent rocks all over the place by the way, just wish I had time to scape them.
Will post some pics at some point..

My post is not so much designed to encourage you to raid mother nature ....heaven forbid, but rather to give ideas on the design of rock formations, the combining and merging of plants and rock and how to create natural perspective.

LOL don't think this would be a good idea, but don't see a problem taking only what you need and no more :)
These are very inspirational BTW! Can't wait to go out and look for inspiration and shoot photos again.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not out scavenging our landscape but I do keep my eyes open when I'm out and about ☺

We definitely have a lot of inspiration around us.
