    Hi guy's

I need to rescape my entire 4 foot tank as my plants are not thriving in Gravel that much. I am looking for a reasonably priced substrate. What would you guy's recommend? :icon_salut:

    "reasonably priced"?
    What is you price range?

I prefer Seachem substrates. Easy to find and not that expensive.

Hmmm.... Each bag goes for about R370 - R400. And I used about three bags in my 100 L.

    Any other suggestions? Anyone?

I would have also said Seachem, but it is pricey on a 4ft, you looking at between 4-8 bags depending on what scape you looking at. But there must be more affordable stuff out there? I've seen stuff similar to the ADA substrate at a fraction of the price.

But that does t help you:) hope you come right

On a 4ft tank, your budget unfortunately won't get you very far where "off the shelf" substrates are concerned.

What type of scape you have in mind or how densely you plan on planting. You can easily get away with two bags of Aquasoil if you do something like this.

    wow 4-8 bags :(

That is a lot, and quite expensive.

That pic is quite nice, but I'm afraid I have a lot more plants than that. Looks like I will have to budget, bite the bullet and buy Aquasoil.

I just can't believe how expensive substrate is :(

Can I use the bottom layer with play sand that one finds at "Toys R Us". Kids usually play with this sand. Looks like sea sand, and then use the top layer with Aquasoli. I think I might get away with less bags then.

is this effective enough for my plants to grow and thrive.

Is it also safe for fish?
