No, not really. My boss says they only have 4 lectures on fish care when they're studying. After that, nothing. I've worked at the vet for 2 and a half years and so far, the only fish we've seen in that time was a goldfish with chronic dropsy that came to be put to sleep. It belonged to one of our receptionists. But people really don't get fish advice from vets so the vets are very much out of practice.
Re: Re: Buggrit - White Spot Cannot do this in a planted aquarium you will kill all your plants, hospital /holding tank then its fine.
i have used it in all my tanks with no problem for 5 years now and my plants are fine if its a plantedf tank i will just halve it
My female krib emerged from her cave last night, followed by 20 fry! So now, I have to be extra careful what I use. I've upped my temp to 26. The clouds are unfazed but the platies are sulking. However, the platies are the worst hit with the white spot. I'm using Bio Elite's ich muti (can't remember the actual name). It doesn't colour the water or mess with the plants. All the other fish are acting normal and eating well.
One more question (still fighting this stupid ich) You say to do a 50% water change after day 3 of metronidazole treatment. Must I dose the metro once off on day 1, or dose daily for 3 days, then do the water change? I've been using Bio Elite's ich treatment, but it's not doing much. One hoplo died already and the other hoplo and platies are all threatening to follow him.
Dose on day 1, 2nd dose after 3 days. Try to vacuum the substrate because the cysts settle on the bottom. If you haven't moved them to a quarantine tank now might be a good time especially if you don't want to disturb your aquascape.
I don't have a quarantine tank currently set up, but if there's cysts in the gravel, hen I need to treat the main tank anyway to prevent re-infestation.
