because TIA (this is Africa)
lol.... something like this in Sandton, JHB should work, with all the yuppies (no offence) there.
Problem is...rental per square meter is insane. Dorrys tried to do something like this...but last i saw they where selling off some display tanks to make way for more livestock space
I really doubt the rental per m2 could be higher than those major cities around Europe & Asia. I know in Hong Kong, a shop on street level, can easily goes for over R10k per m2. Yet some these shops still sell fish cheaper than SA. Yes it is different, but I still think SA needs to do stuff differently!
I always believe that displays has to stay displays, so that people / customers are inspired all the time when they come into the shop. They should want to create something like the display, and therefore you would sell products more than livestock. Yes, have some livestock, but either just an assortment of plants or shrimps + equipment, ferts, etc.
The best I have seen is at Pet World at N1 City in Cape Town. They have quit a big display with scaping in all of them with different plants and substrates. The owner told that the huge display tanks/unit was imported at almost R500 000. Not many shop owners in SA can put down half a mill for a nice display.
I also know it does not have to be that type of tank setup they have, but you get the idea.
500 000 for a planted tank?? pls take a pic cos I don't believe it.
Yoh! R500k for a tank in SA... that is bloody expensive...
R500k is right up Mr Amano's alley...apparently he only does jobs now that's over $30 000 (or something like that). So Pet World could've acquired his services
Sorry, might not have been too clear, its a wall unit few meters across, bu it has multiple tanks in.
You can see it here way back with nothing in.
