So i had some nuisance GSA on my glass and so needed an algae scraper. was not prepared to pay R150 for one so i decided to make my own! turned out so great i thought i would share it with all of you cost me R20 to make basically its a razor blade paint scraper R16 + pvc pipe +-R5 = Algae scraper shove the end of the scraper into the pvc pipe and hot glue it on just to make sure!! Viola
Lol meant voila I don't think so. As long as it slides as and you dont slice I'm guessing it should be okay
Should cost you zilch, simply just use an old credit card, most useful advice I've received on this forum over many years , thanks WBS. I use a white makro card, easier to show up the algae. Blades or those annoying magnet cleaners inevitably scratch the glass at some point.
sponge will scratch the glass at some point, as it collects small particles so acts as sandpaper, same goes with the magnet cleaners especially if they are left in the tank.. Card card card ...
Dont feel like getting my whole hand behind my dense ludwigia plants and pulling them out so the small scraper gets in there nicely
I use plastic footed braai tongs to hold the card when going deep, my one tank is 700 high so prefer this method rather than hauling out my snorkel.
I know of people with tanks big enough to swim in. One guy swims with his fahaka puffer to clean the glass. Brave soul!
