hi guys, okay so I'm looking into doing a full DIY only planted tank, and to see how well it would fare. now I know everyone has done this with those combos and that, and and and. but I would like to not use any of that (if possible ) to see if there are any other subs you can use. ( same with water ferts, but go into that at a later stage ).

now I found some fertilizer, and wondering if it would work

    N - Nitrogen 21g/kg
    P - Phosphorus 16g/kg
    K - Potassium 13g/kg
    Ca - Calcium 110g/kg
    S - Sulphur 0.37g/kg
    Mg - Magnesium 13g/kg
    Zn - Zink 582mg/kg
    Fe - Iron 24.8g/kg
    Mn - Manganese 2.2g/kg
    Cu - Copper 121mg/kg
    B - Boron 25mg/kg
    Mo - Molybdenum 13mg/kg

I do know this is/can be used for growing in an emersed setup. but would this work in a tank? I also know that inverts thrive with that in the water, and do not seem affected by it.

have done a few tests in water, it seems to build up a lot of bubbles when they are bunched together ( not sure what it is tho ).

but my question is, would this be safe to use in an aquarium setup? or just as a root tab?

do have a plant setup under water with some as fertilizer. didn't see much growth first week ( started dosing my own DIY water ferts in that tank now. only 2 days in so too early to say if ther are any results. I'm also thinking I have a light proble,. so I got a new tube and will be dropping that in round the weekend.

I don't have the experience to comment (but look, here I go!), but at first glance the copper is concerning, usually most toxic to inverts but toxic to fish too. I'm not sure at what levels, and I also don't know if you used it as a root tab how much of it would enter the water column.

Is this your experience with it? If you trust this, my guess would be that it's ok..

As @RoGe said...that copper looks WAY too high for inverts. What fertiliser is that...?

yes this is my experience with it so far, don't want to add fish just yet. before doing the needed test. if I see plant growth going up I might not even add fish lol.

in the first week it leeched quite a bit into the water column ( partially because I was too lazy to wash it again ) but it wasn't too bad, I did daily water changes ( 95% ) to clear the water, and its all clear now. still a SLIGHT tan but not much.

@JAX , recon I should test the water for copper? to see how high the levels are? ( would have tested for everything anyways lol )

some organic fertilizer that my mate gave me and said I should see if it works. not sure on the name, got the information above from him.

That nitrogen and posphate ratio is beggingfor an algae explosion.

And then that calcium, unless its a typo, will make your water rock hard if you dose the rest up to requiered tank levels.
