Hello.. anyone interested in a cape town whatsapp group? Can be good for plant sales, exchanges, asking advice and aquascaping chat.. send me a pm with your number, or if there is already one please add me.
I was thinking about one just for cape town (western cape).. start small.. people can meet, exchange ideas, visit shops, exchange items, and help each other. .
I am not even aware of the national group.. a small community in WC would be nice.. and maybe one day we can do what was done in Brasil and France, team up and take on the ADA..
I applaud your positivity, but ideally we need to have ADA available in CT..even though you could not seem to find their boutique store at the Waterfront..
http://www.tropicalaquarium.co.za/showthread.php?24728-Cape-Town-Group/page3 On our original group, we got some momentum going on the idea of a local breeding project - supplying good quality fish to local shops rather than them getting imports that die on the second day home. So one guy was doing angels, three other guys were going to do guppies, another three guys were gonna do platies and swordtails... I still like the idea, but it didn't really get off the ground..
it is a good idea, but most of these shops are crooks, they want stuff for free, or close to free.. sell directly to the public, to eachother, sell on gumtree..
The Cape Town group started by Sterling Ace is still going although atm it is very quiet. Although there are Q&A regarding fish keeping, at some stage the general focus seemed to drift off topic and become a general clowning around and entertainment platform. It definitely isn't in the line of what Luis is suggesting here. Luis, you have me on whatsapp, so if you start such a group, please include me. Thanks
It's so dependant on who the members are.. Our KZN group was super quiet, then we got a new guy, he managed to get everyone talking, then it was hundreds of messages a day, mostly messing around, then we lost a different guy, and then it was easier to manage and keep on track.. So like I said, pretty difficult to manage without being overly restrictive.. But by all means, start a group with a clear purpose and someone prepared to bring the conversation back on track when necessary, and I hope it's useful for you!
I am not that keen on clowning around, and if it not related to aquascaping, tanks, fish, rocks and wood, then pointless to post.. I will not delete posts, or remove people (unless they are obnoxious) but will not participate on those chats.. Will add you..
